Grand Theft Auto VIGrand Theft Auto VIGrand Theft Auto VI

Out 19 November 2026 — 34 days. Below is every place Rockstar has named so far. No map yet, and here is exactly why.

Why there is no map here

Our GTA V map is drawn from coordinates extracted from the game's own files. That needs a PC build. GTA VI launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and Rockstar has announced no PC version — so the extraction path that produced the V map does not exist yet, and realistically will not before late 2027.

A full Leonida map has been circulating since 27 August 2026, along with a set of five county names. We are not using either. It comes from a leak, not from Rockstar: Take-Two is issuing takedowns against it, the build it was taken from is reported as 2024 or earlier, and Rockstar has never authenticated any of it. County names from a two-year-old build are not facts about the game that ships in November. Every coordinate and every name we publish is traceable to something Rockstar released — that is the whole basis of this project, and a shortcut here would end it.

Two things settled this rather than left it a judgement call. Take-Two has filed DMCA subpoenas naming Microsoft, Discord, X Corp and GitHub to identify who uploaded it. And Rockstar has spoken about it publicly, calling it “heartbreaking for our team” — which confirms the material is genuine and removes any doubt about what building on it would mean.

When the game ships, players will be able to submit locations they have seen in-game, and the map will be built from those.

How big is it?

Rockstar has never published an area figure. The one statement that comes from the studio itself, given to The New York Times during a visit to Rockstar North on 27 August 2026, is that the overall map is three times the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Two other figures are quoted widely and are worth treating carefully: "twice the size of GTA V" and "eleven times the built-up area" reached the public through a YouTuber at a hands-off preview rather than as a Rockstar statement, and the two multipliers do not agree with each other — three times RDR2 is about 87 square miles, twice GTA V about 98. We are repeating the studio's own line and labelling the rest as what it is.

What the Extended Look added

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look ran on 27 August 2026 — twenty-six minutes captured in-game on a PlayStation 5, on Netflix first and Rockstar's own channels six hours later. It was a gameplay and systems reveal rather than a map one, and it published no map.

It did name three new places, all in the list below: Effluvia, a rooftop bar; Bayside, named aloud after a police chase; and Megamundo Headquarters. It also showed a swamp sequence with boating and snorkelling that was never named — so there is no place here called "the swamps", and Grassrivers is a guess we are not making.

Bayside is listed with no region on purpose. One outlet places it inside Vice City; others describe it as an area outside the city. Two readings, no tiebreak, so no answer.

The six regions

Counties named, not mapped

These appear on police liveries and road signage in Rockstar's own trailers. A livery names an agency; it does not draw a county line. None of them has a published boundary, and none is drawn on any map here. Lummox, the fifth name usually listed alongside these, appears only in the leak and is left out.
