Larceny Map is an independent, unofficial fan project. This page explains exactly what that means, what we do and do not use, and how to contact us if you believe something here infringes your rights.

1. What this site is
A reference map and personal checklist, made by players for players. It shows where things are and helps you keep track of what you have found.
2. What this site is not
- It is not a mod, cheat, trainer or exploit. It changes nothing about any game.
- It does not connect to any game or platform, and does not read from or write to your game, save file, console or account.
- It installs nothing on your device.
- It is not an official companion app and does not claim to be.
3. Where the map data comes from
The map is drawn from coordinates — factual observations about where things are — rather than from any copied image. How those coordinates are obtained differs by game, and the difference is worth stating plainly.
- Road networks, districts, interiors and rail lines come from publicly available community data dumps.
- Grand Theft Auto V: the coastline is derived by us, computed from a grid of in-game terrain heights.
- Red Dead Redemption 2: no such height grid exists for that game, so its coastline, water and terrain shading are traced — measured off the published game map and converted into our own coordinates. What we publish is a set of numbers describing where the shoreline runs. The image it was measured from is not redistributed, is not served by this site, and is not part of what you receive.
- Mafia II: Empire Bay has no published terrain data of any kind, so its shoreline, roads, city blocks, buildings and neighbourhood boundaries are all traced — measured off the game’s own in-game map and converted into our own coordinates. Two things are worth saying about that. The neighbourhood boundaries are the one case in this whole app where the source draws them: the game’s map prints them as dashed lines and its own legend calls them “City part outlines”. And the frame those coordinates sit in is the game’s own — established three separate ways that agree to within five metres, rather than invented by us. As with Red Dead, the image the measurements were taken from is not redistributed, is not served by this site, and is not part of what you receive. Place names and vehicle statistics come from the Mafia Wiki under CC BY-SA and are attributed in the data.
- Weekly in-game economy figures come from GrindMap under a CC BY 4.0 license, and are attributed wherever shown.
- Collectible locations are contributed by players using this site.
4. No game assets are used
Every map you see here is rendered by us, in our own visual style, from coordinate data. We do not host, serve or embed any image, texture, model, audio file or artwork from any game.
Many similar sites republish map tiles extracted from game files. We deliberately do not. The difference matters: a coordinate is a fact about where something is, whereas an extracted tile is a copy of someone else's artwork.
Where a map has been measured from a published game map — see section 3 — that measurement is the same kind of act as reading a coordinate off a chart. The result we publish is coordinates. The chart itself stays where we found it.
5. Accuracy
Information here is provided in good faith but is not guaranteed to be accurate, complete or current. Games change; crowdsourced data can be wrong; derived geometry is approximate. Where data is unverified we try to label it as such. Use it as a guide, not as a source of truth.
6. Commercial use
Larceny Map is free. There is no advertising, no paid tier, and nothing here is sold. It is run as a non-commercial fan project.
7. Copyright complaints
